Google Science Fair 2013 – Awake the sleeping genius in you
Change the world – join the Google Science Fair 2013. This event seeks for great ideas coming from young spirits. Sponsored by Google, the CERN, LEGO, National Geographic and Scientific American, it’s an amazing chance for young people to showcase their energy and scientific inventivity. Make a difference.
what is it about ?
The Google Science Fair is a scientific competition (not a prize draw) opened to teenagers all over the world. The purpose is to encourage the youth to follow their dreams and reveal the innovation spirit within them. With notorious historical figures as models, the young participants are asked to present a personal science project, alone or as a team. It is a skill contest.
who participates and what type of projects to expect there ?
All young people from the planet are invited to challenge one another in this open contest. To participate you would have to be between 13 and 18. Some countries are submitted to particular conditions (see Google Science Fair Rules for details).
Last year’s winner was Brittany Wenger, 17 who worked on a Global Neural Network Cloud Service for Breast Cancer.
when and where is it ?
The event started with the selection phase on January 30, 2013. This open call for entries runs until April 30, 2013. After this date it won’t be possible to submit our application anymore.
Second week of June the regional finalists will be announced. Age category finalists and Science in Action Award winner will be chosen after June 24. The public gets to vote for the Inspired Idea Award.
The final event will be held around September 23, 2013. It will be transmitted live from the Google headquarters in Mountain View, California.

Glass design, fun and creativity: “Keep it glassy” in Shanghai!
“Designed with love, handle with care”, this is what glass design is about. Starting on the 28th of March, the new exhibition “Keep it glassy” at the Shanghai Museum of Glass (SHMOG) revolves around this articulation between dedication to glass and fragility of the material.
what is it about ?
The “Keep it glassy!” exhibition shows how glass design rhymes with fun and creative design.
who exhibits and what type of visitors to expect there ?
More than 200 exhibited objects by some 50 designers from around the world. The international dimension of the exhibition underlines how the passion for glass-blowing transcends borders and cultural differences.
The general public is admitted without restrictions of days (except for the regular closing on Mondays)
when and where is it ?
Curated by Chen Ying / Shanghai Museum of Glass and COORDINATION ASIA Ltd., “Keep it glassy!” will be held within the building of the Shanghai Museum of Glass. For the occasion visitors will wander in a specially created decorum. COORDINATION ASIA Ltd. has built a concept and design for the project that relies on a game of mirrors. As described on the official website, “A maze of mirrors and pools offers surprising perspectives and leads the visitor through the selection of exhibits that put a smile upon your face and show the magic of the material.” Perfect for an exhibition that is centered on glass design exclusively!
The opening date is on March 28, with no specific closing date yet. The exhibition is meant to run for the year 2013.
From Tuesday to Sunday: 9:30 – 17:00 (Ticket sales end at 16:30), Saturday night tour(From 5/1-10/31) from 16:30 to 21:00, closed on Monday.

What is HKSGDA?
The Hong Kong Smart Gift Design Award is organized (HKSGDA) for the second consecutive year by The Hong Kong Exporters’ Association (HKEA), a government funding Under “CreateHK”.
A professional jury will discern on April 27th Awards to the artists who designed the smartest gifts in each category.
What is the purpose of HKSGDA?
HKSGDA contributes to place Hong Kong as a world-leading giftware hub.
Their aim is not only to drive creativity and innovations among designers, but it also encourages Hong Kong giftware manufacturers to create their own designs by making use of advanced technology integrated with marketing and business strategies. They encourage a synergy of creativity and economic benefits, during a time of growing competitiveness in an evolving market.

How to see the public exhibitions?
From March to June 2013, roving exhibitions are open to the public in Hong Kong. They feature a large range of gifts spanning from simple to sophisticated, fair priced to high-valued light consumer products: toys, home-ware, fashion accessories, electronic items…

Australian International Design Festival: “Alright mate?”
Australian International Design Festival 2013 is one of the most big design event in the world. The organizer try to make it bigger every year as this edition where you can assist from 30 May to 10 June 2013, to 3 events in one overall event: it’s for that it’s called “Festival”.
What is it about ?
The goal of Australian Internation Design Festival is to featured on international design conference, public products, made a award ceremony call “Australian International Design Awards Presentation Ceremony” and made VIP celebrations.
The organizer made a combination with Vivid Sydney (festival of light, music and ideas) to inaugurate the Australian International Design Festival.

Maison&Objet ASIA in SINGAPORE / Your new design destination in Asia
MAISON&OBJET is one of today’s largest international gatherings of decor and design professionals. Now, with its unique positioning as a springboard, the show replicates itself abroad in the introduction of MAISON&OBJET ASIA 10 – 13 March 2014. This new annual event for professionals, held in conjunction with other major events in the furnishings field and showcased in Singapore’s prestigious Marina Bay Sands Resort, is a first step in the show’s international development strategy targeting markets with high growth potential.
The challenge: The MAISON&OBJET ASIA show seeks to recreate the unique, creative and sophisticated atmosphere of its Parisian model in Singapore once a year.

The original team from the Maison&Objet Paris aims to create an event that will give visibility to talents and brands in Asia, one of the most dynamic regions in the world right now. This opening of a French event to an international hub is a clue of its fame, interest, richness in opportunities for all designers.

Exhibitors are designers from all over the world, all with their backgrounds and specialties.
Visitors are mainly: Architects and interior designers, hotels, restaurants, hotel groups, distributors and importers, opinion leaders or investors with strong purchasing power, journalists.
General public is not admitted.
when and where is it ?
The event will take place from 10 to 13 March 2014, in Singapore. The venue chosen for this great-to-be event is none other than famous and dazzling Marina Bay Sands Hotel Expo and Convention Center.
Choice was made to implement it in Singapore as it is an economic and financial hub in South-East Asia and nestled in the heart of the free trade area of ASEAN.
